fuel problem?

It all started with a high rpm misfire so I replaced the opti 2 days ago. It did not solve the problem. Just after replacing the opti id say 200 miles after driving it the temp started to go up and I was losing power. Eventually bringing it to a stop. Now when bleeding the cooling we forgot one of the bleeders so we did that and thought we solved the problem because it was not circulating.
20 more miles and it started losing power again. we thought maybe the fuel filter was clogged and it was running lean causing it to overheat? The temp showing in the dash was nowhere near dangerous though. At one point the headers where glowing red about to start on fire so we had to get it towed home 200 miles.
Now when i go to start and drive it today there is no power and i can barely get it started. I hope i didn't reck anything.
-things im gonna look at:
thermostat
fuel filter, pump

-let me know if you want me to be clearer on anything

thanks

I would verify good fuel pressure, make sure there are no vacuum leaks, and as mentioned above, a defective cat could be the culprit.

ok, we checked the fuel pressure and that was 35 psi at idle. Never thought about the cat being clogged but we can check that.
Also, There is a high pitch squeel and it gets louder when you rev it up. We saw smoke coming from one of the egr hoses so we thought maybe one of those is clogged. It could also be a vacuum leak.

ok, lets say the cat is clogged, would something cause it to be clogged or would it just clog up?
Lets say something caused it to lean out and heat up causing the cat to heat up and clog. What im trying to say is I think the cat clogging was the affect of something else, breaking the camels back.
-any thoughts?

your fuel pressure looks good. Initially at start up the fuel psi should be around 44psi and then it will drop down 3-10 psi shortly after so it puts you in the ballpark.
I would also say it is a clogged cat.
That's is exactly why I took my cat off Not really but that's what I tell people.
good luck
Brandon

well, we took off the pipe behind the cat and looked in it and it looked good.

-It has been throwing a ses (code 29) for a while now and then this happens.
Anything to do with it?

Code 29 is for the Secondary Air Injection (AIR) pump circuit. I doubt it is related.
