New Hotcam Dyno Numbers!

So I have been trying to cure my high rpm miss forever now and I took it to a local shop to see if they could "tune" it out. Well they reduced it greatly but there is still some small miss there that I will have to figure out but my new numbers are 393.3 RWHP @6100rpm and 379.6 RWTQ @4700rpm. Not too shabby for a hotcam :-) And yes they are SAE corrected. Mod's are in sig. Just wanted to share cause I'm very happy! Can't wait to throw in the GM847 this summer so I can reach 400!!!

Nice... now take yourself a 200mi jaunt to Houston Raceway Park (15ft. ele. and one of the best drag strips in the nation) and see if your track times live up to those dyno numbers. You should easily be hitting 115 to 117mph trap speeds given you are geared properly for your power band.

Fantastic. I just talked a friend into buying the hotcam kit. I'm sure he'll be pleased to see this. The heads must flow really well. Considering you're making quite a bit more than me, I can't see why you wouldn't trap 117-120 if your car isn't a pig...like mine.

I think you just inspired all Hotcam owners and potential Hotcam owners. Nice results.

That Hotcam is better than alot of people think it is. I always ran good #'s back when i ran it in my car and I had stock heads. Good numbers.

I don't see why there are people that dis the hot cam so bad. peple are always trying to talk people out of buying it. I bet they have never owned a car with the cam in it.
reasons the hot cam is great:
1. Awesome deal on the kit
2. Great sound
3. real good for a daily driver
4. makes good power.

I had a hotcam in my first f-body and loved it. I then went bigger and did not like it compared to the hot cam. Now I just put the hot cam kit in my 95 imp SS. Now I just need to fix the head gasket leak so I can dirive it and see how it runs.

great numbers by the way!!

the hot cam is great. i also don't know why people diss on it so much. they must not know that that whole entire kit is made specifically for the camaro. with supporting mods and a tune you can reach over 350hp. i did. 361 hp and 358 tq, and i am redoing my crank, rods, pistons, rings and bearings. Hopefully i can squeeze a few more ponies out of her. But yeah Hot cam kit worth every dollar. i rape ls1's all day and laugh while im doing it.

You don't think that the 355, the 11:1 and the heads have anything to do with the high numbers??? One needs to consider the whole picture in order to make an accross the board determination that slapping in a hot cam with mild ported heads is going to get you into those numbers. JMHO

I'd also like to see the graph---since peaking at 6100 with the hotcam seems interesting to me. I don't know anything bout the hotcam, so maybe that is where it peaks.

Thanks.

exactly - the OP's combo is obviously working really well.

Just ordered a pair of Mickey Thompson Drag Radials today!

Thanks for all of the replies and yes I'm definitely betting that my higher compression is helping me. I went with domed pistons and forged internals when I got them motor rebuilt after busting a main cap. The heads flow really well and I have 2.02intake and 1.55exhaust valves in it which def help my cause. I have had this cam for a while now and have pretty much every single supporting mods that I can. Crazy thing is that this is all throw AS&M midlengths, so I plan on doing a GM847 and Long tubes this summer so I'm REALLY interested to see what she will do then!!!

I don't think any of us can come to the conclusion this combo is working well until track times are posted.
Dyno numbers (in general) suck and cannot be trusted to tell the complete story.
