Fuel float on pump stuck?
Fuel float on pump stuck?
Last weekend I replaced my fuel pump and after installing the new one, my gas gauge just sits at half and will not go any higher. I filled up with gas yesterday so I have not found out if the gauge goes down or not yet, but my guess is that it does not. I think that when I put the pump back in the tank, I put it in a little crooked and got the float stuck on something. Inside the tank there is a little cubbie-hole towards the back. Does the pump sit back in there or not? Also, does the float sit back there as well? If anyone knows where the pump sits inside the tank, please let me know. Any help would be appreciated.
I would just remove the pump assembly and have a look, you should be able to see what's going on. If the gauge doesn't move at all and it stays in the middle you probably bent the arm into the rest of the assembly, that's why it can't move. Make sure you're carefull with bending the arm to avoid having an inaccurate gauge.
