Fuel filter screw stripped- HELP!
Fuel filter screw stripped- HELP!
I pulled my old fuel filter oout today to replace it, only to find that the screw that goes into the end is stripped. I can not get the thing to screw into the new filter. I can see the broken thread on the screw, it is on the first turn at the very end. If I could get the thing off of there, I could use a Dremel and just grind the broken part off, but I don't want to do it while it on the car, what with the gasoline being all over the place there. Does anyone have an idea on how I can somehow "unstrip" the old screw or get the old on off and replace it? I can't drive the car without the filter in there, please help!
Re: Fuel filter screw stripped- HELP!
DONT USE A DREMEL ON YOUR FUEL LINE! It will make sparks and ignite the fuel and burn your car to ashes. I stripped mine too but was able to get it off with vice grips (Its in bad shape so i dont think i could ever change that filter again). You should be able to pick one up at autozone or a dealer. You just replace the metal piece that goes to the filter. Just be more careful getting the line out of there.
