Fuel Filter

Where are my fuel filters located on my 95 z28 camaro? Is it possible for me to remove them and clean them myself? How would I clean them? Thanks for any help.

The fuel filter is located under the rear driver's side seat. It is a small sealed canister that is replaced. One side has a 10mm (I think) nut and the other side a quick disconnect clip. Undo both sides and take it out. Go down to Napa (even Walmart has them!) and get a new fuel filter and reinstall. It'll cost about $10, and you should definitely do it every year. After the first time, subsequent times will take you a whopping 5 minutes.

You'll also need a 13/16 wrench to hold the nut on the filter while you tighten the fitting. Changed mine today, easy as changing the oil. Just don't smoke while you're doing it.

yeah i jack up rear of car. Also relieve fuel pressure. To do that look at back of intake there is black cap you will unscrew looks like valve stem cap on tire then you'll see what looks like a valve stem put a rag around it to soak up fuel, definatley key off, and push the pin in to relieve fuel press its around 45psi so it'll take a couple of seconds but you can tell. when you start car cycle the fuel pump a couple of times turn key on and off 2 or 3 times before cranking.

Or if you dont want to mess with the schrader valve, just open your gas cap and leave it off while you change filters. I did that and a little fuel came out but no big deal, you should have a catch pan there anyway. The process took me about 25 minutes since it was my first time.

yeah forgot to mention u always have to remove gas cap using valve just makes less of a mess i thought it was easier but everybody has their opinion good catch though without removing cap gas would've flowed forever.

You should do both the schrader and the gas cap. Removing the gas cap relieves pressure in the tank, but not in the lines. A check ball in the fuel pump is responsible for holding residual pressure in the lines after the pump is no longer running. Drippage will vary from car to car.
