FP guage install
I got the fuel pressure autometer guage...I have the black box style...What I need is it didnt come with a shrouder
I dont know what that is But I have the wires, guage, and box...I am guessing that it is the sensor..anyone know where I can get it or a part #?
thanks

black box style? that would mean that you have an electric fuel pressure guage. You have a guage, box, sender, and wire... Pretty much self explaniatory.. Just hook the sender up to the fuel pressure test port on the fuel rail thats on the back of the intake manifold. Then connect the wires like it say's, mount the guage and your good to go
AutoMeter makes two different electric fuel pressure gauges... the full-sweep high $$$ model, with 3 pieces (sensor, tranducer box, gauge) and a 90-deg sweep, low $$$ model with 2 pieces (integrated sensor/transducer, gauge). Which one do you have? Model number?
"shrouder"..... could you possibly mean "Schrader"? That's the pressure test connection on the stock fuel line that the sensor needs to attach to. Actually, if you can avoid attaching the sensor directly to the Schrader, and isolate the sensor away from the engine vibrations, you will be better off. And, since the Schrader connection is -4AN, and the sensor is going to have 1/8" NPT threads, you need an adaptor. If you figure out what pieces you have, I can give you part #'s for the fittings.

Fred I've got the full sweep elec fp guage. What are the necessary parts I need to mount it the way you mentioned? I bought this part but I believe I still need the shrader valve stem removed. Is there a way to install it w/out removing the shrader valve? As I've heard it's very costly to replace if screwed up.

here's what you need to mount to the schrader valve:
1 tire valve stem remover to unscrew the relief valve from the schrader port.
1 -4an fitting to 1/8 npt
1 1/8 npt adapter
screw the sender into the 1/8 adapter and attach to the rail
run the wires and you're done
the fittings can be ordered from summit if you want earls fittings or any parts store should carry them. autozone should have the valve stem removal tool you need.

My preference would be to not put it directly on the Schrader. That "boss" is only swedged onto the pipe, and will break off relatively easily. The nice thing about the 90-deg swivel fitting (I used the NOS PN 17535, -4AN female to -4AN male on my previous setup) it that it points the connection away from the cowl, and allows you to aim the fitting in exactly the direction you want, without forcing it on the Schrader. Then get an NOS -4AN hose, with a 1/8" NPT male on the other end, a 1/8" NPT coupling for the sender, and tuck the sender behing the PCM, away from the heat and vibration. Costs a bit more, but I suspect the sender will last longer, and you won't risk pushing it into the cowl if the engine torques over. You can also use a brass "tee" in place of the coupling, if you need a second connection for a nitrous fuel supply, a fuel pressure safety switch, or a small underhood gauge.
Or do this......
