Don't the Cometic gaskets have very specific finish specifications for the block deck and heads?

I have not seen anything on it I am going to research that right now.

yes they recommend a surface of 50 ra or finer. I am going to just clean the surfaces with brake clean and a rag to not mess up the finish.

Are you absolutely certain that your surfaces are of that finish?

Yes my machinist assured me that as long as the blown surfaces hasnt changed the surface that the cut is finer than that. Engine is still very fresh since rebuild. I will be bolting one head for sure down but hopefully get the other one off and back on today...we will see
