Engine wire routing help

Having a hard time remembering how my engine harness was routed on the passenger side. Its the part of the harness that goes to starter (purple wire), knock sensor wire, ground wire and o2 sensor connector.

A picture would be great if anybody can snap one for me.

Re: Engine wire routing help

Factory service manual has harness routing diagrams. Hard to find the specific items, but worth a look. If you haven’t already downloaded the 1996 (should be same as 97) manual, might be helpful.

Re: Engine wire routing help

Great link - thanks, Fred.

It looks like this is what I'm looking for, so when i get out tomorrow I'll see how it compares to the car. My long tubes may be throwing me off. I may have had to route them another way and i have just forgotten - its been 1.5 years since i took the car apart.

Re: Engine wire routing help

In Shoebox's harness photo (1994/95) that branch has factory insulation on it:

Not sure what the minor difference on 96/97 make.

Re: Engine wire routing help

Pin B8 VSS Output connects to the cruise control module, and the instrument cluster. It passes through connector C220

See harness diagram for location of C220, lower left corner:

The connection at the cluster depends whether the cluster came from a Camaro or a Firebird (you appear to have a non-GM cluster):

Essentially it connects to the speedometer, providing a 4,000 pulse per mile signal.
