How do you replace knock sensor wire and PCM ground?
How do you replace knock sensor wire and PCM ground?
The wire for my PCM ground is faulty and so is the wire that runs to the knock sensor. I was wondering how to get the wire out of the connector that attaches on to the sensor. Also how do you get it out of the connector on the back of the PCM. I was trying to figure it out today, but was having a hard time and eventually ran out out of time before going to work.

Squeeze the knock sensor connector and it will come out. How do you know the wire is bad? Did it get burnt on the headers? A couple of options I can think of. You could buy a new connector and splice it in to a good part by the pcm wire. Or spice some new wire to the connector you already have. Have you tested the connector to see if it's getting 5 volts? I would try that before trying to splice some new wire in there.
Are you talking about the ground wire that is connected to the passenger side of the block? Or does that one come from the starter? If its the wire attached to the block, then its kind of a pain. You might have to remove the starter or y-pipe if you cant get access. Others should chime in here.

Re: How do you replace knock sensor wire and PCM ground?
I just spliced that ground wire along with o2, and knock sensor wire on the passenger side as I melted them together by my header. You would probably have to take apart the connector that plugs into the pcm to get the wires free. Sounds like a huge risk to me. Splicing is probably your best option besides buying a new wiring harness. I'd wait for some more replies about splicing. I've heard some people on the board not recommend splicing. At least pertaining to the o2 wires (not your problem). Some ppl say it affects the power rating of the wire. Me personally, I will splice into wires.
