An open in a ground wire, will it still ground?
Ok the ground wire on the stud in the block on the passenger side by the starter, theres two of them, it's the smaller wire, it has an open in the wire just behind the ring terminal. I know if it were a power wire it would cause a short, but is it the same for a ground wire? Also what all does that wire ground anyways. Thanks
only one of those is a ground wire, the other is just support for the wire loom, as far as i can remember.doesnt matter if the wire is exposed, as long as it doesnt touch the opposite charge i.e. a 12volt touching the body, engine, or ground wire.
There should be a blk/wht wire connected to a stud on the block. That wire is a ground for many things, including pcm, MAF, fuel pump relay and half dozen more items.
I would try to repair it, if possible. You say there are two?
I don't know of another. There should be a purple starter wire and blue knock sensor wire with it.
It won't short out if it touches to ground like a 12v wire would, but it would short if it touched a 12v lug. You could end up with a fried pcm (and maybe some other things) if it did that.

Sorry I havent replyed back to this in awhile. Yes there are two of those ground wires there, along with the purple starter, knock sensor wire, and O2 wire all in the same bundle. Theres a bigger one black w/white stripe like what you have, and theres this smaller one same size as the knock sensor wire also w/a white stripe, I'v already put a new ring terminal on it cus it was hanging by about 3 copper strains. The bigger one just has a little of the black insulation gone, but isnt touching anything really.
