Engine Missing
Engine Missing
Some one stole my engine....... No, not really..........It was running fine this morning. It is a rather warm day and I had to sit in some traffic. It didn't over heat but my idle started to act funny. It would jump real fast to about 1200. If I held the gas a little it would stop.I was at another light leaving town and there was a honda ricer in front of me. He cut me off actually. I was hoping to smoke his *** but my car let me down. It was surging or bucking when I punched it and in the high rpm range it was backfiring out the intake. I had to play it like I didn't want to race. Shameful I tell ya. This happened suddenly and it looks like it aint goin away easy. Any Ideas? Please don't tell me its the opti. I'm in a poor situation right now. My car has 66,000 miles on it so I figure it gonna need something. All suggestions will be greatly appreciated and investigated. Also, it isn't as bad when the temp is below 200.
check the ignition system for loose wires/connections.... also it might be a sticking EGR valve.... Possibly the fuel filter..... when was the last tune up???? ETC.. My eng runs around 185-190 ..... Buit I do run a 160 degree thermostat...
That's what I didn't want to hear. But It's what I thought also. I have to pay someone to do it for me because I don't have a place to tear my car apart like that. Oh, well such is life.

no, im saying the only reason i came into the thread was to provide you with some smartass response like
"well, go find it..."
but you stole my outlet to do so by dismissing it in your first sentence

Mine acted the same way for weeks before setting off code 16. It was my opticrap. I`ve heard of prices around $1200 for this change. There is a lot of labor to it but can be done yourself if you had somewhere to do it. About 6 hours of labor.
I took it to a friends shop today and we put a scanner on it. Got a code 44 which is left O2 sensor lean. I replaced the fuel filter and both O2 sensors. The right side is a bitch. I had to drop the starter and exhaust to make room for a wrench. After all that the code cleared. I took it out and drove it real hard. It seemed to run pretty good except for the idle dropping to 500 at times( which it has since I got the car) and a little miss at 4000 RPM with wide open throttle. I ordered some new wires and bought plugs but after fighting that sensor for hours I will wait a while for those items or pay someone to do it. I will have to drive it some more to see if that fixed it. Now, Where's that honda that cut me off yesterday?I took it to a friends shop today and we put a scanner on it.
