Also check all wires around the coil to make sure they are not kinked. I've replaced a few coils and one time a few wires got kinked and I didn't even notice until a shop pointed it out and fixed it for me for a similar problem I had, only with less codes thrown.

I just found out the replacement Ignition harness price went from around $60 when I bought on a couple of years ago to about $180 today. Great.
You can get opti harnesses from eficonnection or lsxtune for less than $40.

The original problem sounds like it could be the ignition switch or connection down there.

I thought about that and I tried moving my harnessing around under the dash and under the hood. I also tapped on the steering collumn and ignition switch with a screwdriver as well as the relay box and ECU without being able to get the described reset condition to reproduce. I thought if it was an intermittent connection I should have found it by now.

Do you know where the ignition switch is (on the column, under the dash)? Did you wiggle the connector to it? If all your ignition switched circuits go dead when this is happening, it is a good bet it is the switch or connection.

I don't think I tried that particular connector. I do have the Helms Manual so I will find the ignition switch and give a bit of a shake to see if that's where the problem is.

Thanks

I dropped the lower dash panels this morning and found the Ignition Switch and was able to check it out. With the ignition on (engine not running) I was not able to reproduce the reset problem while wiggling the connector. I manipulated the connector for a few minutes with no luck.

I had checked the coil harness initially as I have had issues with it in the past. I replaced the coil pigtail a couple of years ago when I found it was frayed.

I have never had an Opti do this to me before it had always just died in the past, but I know they can be a fickle beast. I guess I will be changing the Opti and see what happens.

Thought I would update this thread and close the loop so it may be useful to someone in the future.

I replaced the Opti and the car runs great. I've out a few hundred miles on the new Opti without a problem. Took it to the track last Saturday and made 8 runs and won the club bracket with it.

Thanks for all the input

EFIConnection has a good price on an Opti harness.
