eletrical/starter problem! Please please help!

ok so its been doing this for a little while, but its getting harder to start! when i go to start it its just clicks but if i cycle the clutch/ ignition or hold ignition on start and cycle the clutch(saftey clutch switch) pretty faast it will start up most time(sometimes taking ALOT of clicks)! i just replaced the starter thinking it could be it! no change! if i jump the starter at the starter by connecting the 2 terminmals it turns right away! i even tried jumping it 12v from diff battery to purple wire(silenoid wire) at the theft derant relay and still only clicks! I am OUT of ideas! and any help point me in the right direction?!? both old and new starter tested outside off of car fine!

Your problem would appear to be in the control circuit to the starter solenoid as apposed to being the large 12volt supply line to the starter. My advice would be to jump out the clutch switch to remove it as a cause. Also jump pin 86 of the TDR, to ground to find out if the TDM is not giving the TDR proper ground to pull in the TDR.

In order for the TDM to pull in the TDR, the TDM must have a proper ground. It gets ground from the right side of the engine block right above the starter. From there it passes to the right side kick panel through a 4 pin connector and over to the TDM.

Let us know what you find after doing that.

sorry it took so long to get back but a shorted power siganl wire was the problem.... just a small movements in the wire was the difference between clicking and starting... what a nightmare cause everytime i had it in the air it seemed to start... take it off stands and CLICK! hah glad to get that fixed!

My car is dead in my driveway. Just replaced the clutch and am having the SAME problem. Which wire was at fault? Any other details or pics would help. Thanks!
