I blew my motor and am currently looking for one but idk what i will need to do to get it running THE WAY ITS SUPPOSED TOO! the car is a fully convertred 97ss. Cars really a 94 v6 but had a complete donor car and took everything out of the car every bit of wiring is 97 the dash is 97 i put alot of work into this car and dont want to convert any of the wiring back over. i want to run my 97 ecu and engine harness also so if you guys can fill me in on some info it would be great thanks

The OBD-I (94/95) engines will have a different knock sensor, no crank position sensor (CKP), and no EVAP system vacuum detection switch. You can swap the knock sensor from your 97, use the EVAP vacuum swtich from your 97. The CKP isn't required to run the engine, just to detect misfires in OBD-II. You would have to swap your timing cover, with the CKP sensor, the reluctor gear, the damper hub and the notched crank key to put the CKP on the OBD-I engine. Not sure if the timing set would be compatible with the space required for the reluctor gear. The connections on the exhaust manifolds for the AIR system are different diameters.

If you get a 94 engine, it will have an unvented Opti and would require a different Opti extension harness. You would eliminate the vacuum harness. A 95 would have the same vented Opti as your 97 and would have the same harness connector, and vacuum connections.

A 96 or 97 model lt1 would be plug and play if the engine harness is also swapped. Are you saying you already have an older lt1?
