Did I botch my fuel pump installation?
Did I botch my fuel pump installation?
I'm running a Racetronix intank pump and suspect I may have botched the installation. I have an intermittant hard starting problem. Somtimes it fires right up, but sometimes I have to crank it for a long time and give it gas to get it to start.
When I was installing the pump, I tried tightening the clamp on the corrugated plasic tube coming out the top of the pump as tight as I could, but maybe it wasn't tight enough. Could that be causing my problem?

Re: Did I botch my fuel pump installation?
same problem happened to me , as my car wouldnt start, u may need a new pump ,
when i did my pump the first time i didnt tighten that line up enough it came off a week later , i did it again and i made it as tight as i could , car wouldnt start
turned out i needed a new pump , tightening it to much may have kept the check valve form opening and closing,
send it back , it should be waranteed

Re: Did I botch my fuel pump installation?
I'm getting about 40 psi at idle. I haven't checked to see how quickly fuel pressure bleeds down after I shut off the motor and won't be able to until next week (car is stored far away from me). Would the type of intall error I think I made cause the problem I'm describing?
