Question delteq questions

I have searched for delteq on the forum, and everyone has said that it is better than the stock optispark, but is it good for use with nitrous or a blower?

I haven't seen anyone talk about the advantages or disadvantages of the delteq in high performance situations.

It seems like a great system, but I don't want to have to scrap it as I start to build more power.

Any help would be great.

I cant speak on Delteq's behalf, but from what I understand, the Opti-direct kit does not have a built-in rev limiter nor an ignition-retard feature like that of the LTCC.

However, you can use a DIS ignition box with the kit. Looking in Summit's magazine, it appears that the part number for the 4-channel MSD DIS ignition box is MSD-6215 -- roughly $330. From the looks of it, you might also have to purchase the Tach Adapter p/n MSD-8912 at $50 (not entirely certain). So, it's not cheap, but it can be done. http://www.msdignition.com/sci_4.htm

Other than that, I would assume the Delteq is a great upgrade for both high- and low- horsepower applications. You can saw-off the rotor within the opti so it wont fly apart at high-rpm, you'll have four massive ignition coils instead of one (plenty of dwell time), not to mention it's a complete easy-to-install kit. However, it will still utilize the optical portion of the opti -- at least for the time being.

I figure that I've seen some guys online that have replaced two or more optisparks in a single year. For the same price (at least for the $300 unvented 1993-1994 models), you could get a coil-conversion, and not have to worry about the majority of the problems associated with the opti. Pay $400 for an ignition box, and you'll be set for anything you can throw at the motor.

I've already placed my order, so my views may be slightly biased.
