Do both companies have a good product? Most likely... I'd honestly like to see more example car timeslips out of both fields. I hope to have some respectable times up later this year, that aren't plagued with problems like my shakedown run. That being said, I broke 11's and gained 5 mph over my cam only setup, on just a shakedown run that was plagued with problems.
I guess they're not doing it right now though. I'm sure both companies put out a good product i've seen both products first hand in my hands. Funny how this all starts because i suggest if he's wanting 500rwhp look to Ai because i know they were working on something a while back. Then all the LE guys have to get defensive because they feel they have an inferior product. Then a war is started. I really hope a mod comes and locks this one. You realize that one guy did make a post in the lounge about this and thats probably where all the BS in this post should go.

I don't see anyone directly responding to your post about Ai as being defensive on the LE side...

The only thing I can see that may have spurred it was Shon's comment about lack of positive results being posted... (while there have really been no negatives that I have seen...)

Yeah you're right on that one. I thought it was Realquick that got it started after my post but no it was Shon. Nevermind.

Honestly though i saw you and that other guy debating about what caused your problem. I find it hard to believe a loose rocker could of caused that but i'm no expert. I've had a rocker come loose and so have several of my other friends and never anything like that. I just hope thats what the source of your problem was as this stuff is to expensive to break.

I wanted to say it earlier but i figured people would think i was trying to be a dick about it too so i waited for stuff to calm down.

Re: Criticize my next setup...

Well, I don't see what else it could have been.. I did a full teardown of the shortblock myself, nothing let go on the bottom end that caused it, the heads have been checked out and the one bent valve replaced my a local reputable race shop. The thought of a valve getting stuck open during piston travel was given to me by the shop, but the thought was shut down once he pulled the valve and saw there were no issues with the valve guide. And both Lloyd and Ai are using the stock valve guides with the SS valves...

Many experts on here seem to agree a loose rocker was the culprit, as we've gone through many scenarios and are unable to find anything else that could have gone wrong. There just aren't enough variables that I can see. Maybe the spider retainer failed on its own.. oh well, I've got a new one of those from GM. PtoV clearance was most likely not an issue as this is the same setup many others run. With my LE3 cam going into my zero decked 355, I will be checking PtoV clearance before assembly...

And you're right, this crap does get expensive..

Funny, Lloyd, I'm not engaged in a pissing contest with anyone on here.

Besides, I consult people who actually design cams.

Its either that or mph doesnt mean much to some because they cant run it to begin with, which is what I'm starting to think after reading these threads.

Or....

You have a huge cam and huge heads that will dyno great numbers, then go run 12's @ 110.

Doubtful on 500 rwhp IMO. It can be done, but you have to have the right tools.
I dont think I can clarify it any simpler unless its written in crayon. I am saying mph to most people on (full weight cars with mild suspension/tire) believe that xxxrwhp = xxx mph... when in fact the mph can vary significantly depending on the setup of the car. If I dont change my setup of the car and just throw a cam in and gain 3mph, then I can guess I gained ~30rwhp...but we are not talking about just testing one mod at a time here...

Re: Criticize my next setup...

I do not know why these threads always degenerate into an LE/BB vs. everybody thread. It is beyond me.

FWIW, they did a modified LE2 package for me to run in an Open Road Racing car. For those of you not familiar with this type of racing, Google it and find out. It is extreme severe duty. We just got back from th Big Bend Open Road race and the car in question (96 Camaro) ran 118 miles total on a state highway with 60 turns on the route. We averaged 131 mph with a verfied top speed -through a radar trap- of 164mph. That was 54 minutes or so of ***** to the wall, abuse the crap out of the drivetrain running.

The car was awesome. Everyone votes approval with their checkbook/credit card. Lloyd has my business.

I bought from lloyd and I am very happy. my CAR has been plagued with problems unrelated to the engine. I still ran pretty respectable times. the only reason my product would be "inferior" is because he continually puts out better and better stuff!

Well, considering all the heated discussion, there is only one way to resolve this. I mean we can go on and on, but will never get anywhere.
We need to go heads up, and let the results speak for themselves. Period.
Which, by the way, is much more fun than talking smack on the web!

You do know that if you run heads up, you need to put two cars that are alike. There are so many variables to consider, and if you are going to ignore then you are very naive my friend. I was uneducated at one point and all I looked at was what heads/cam and engine size someone has to determine what they ran. You cant put an LE2 w/stock bottom end, w/supporting mods and no suspension and street tires against something from AI that is going to be running a 383 with their comparable heads to the LE2 w/slicks and race weight of 3000lbs w/driver and slicks to boot. I know this was as very strong comarison, just stating the point.

It will be very hard to do this matchup unless the cars are matched perfectly weight wise, the suspensino they have, and tires.

I have not yet heard of anyone being dissapointed w/Lloyds work. Heck, maybe there are people who are, but I have not heard of them. This is why Lloyd has received my business.

I love the internet. One runs into such an aray of people.

Highly doubt it. Bret and Lloyd have been nothing but great and informative with everything I threw at them. I am not saying AI wouldn't do that, but Im staying with eportworks.

EXACTLY. . . . . . . . . . . . . All I need is Ricks phone # to make sure he is cool with the deal.

We should get results sooner from 96Capricemgrs AI heads on one of the Impalas mentioned. Those heads are ready to go and the ones for Ricks car are about 5-6 week from being completed.

Should be some intersting results.

Lloyd
