crankshaft position sensor question
crankshaft position sensor question
ok guys some lt1's carry a crankshaft position sensor.. will a lt1 without the sensor sit in an work in a car formatted for an crankshaft sensor... if so what has to happen? i heard the cps just reads misfires and can be tuned out.... any advice is appreciated thank you
Re: crankshaft position sensor question
If you have an OBD-II LT1 (96/97) and install a 93-95 OBD-I engine without the CKP sensor, there will be nothing to hook up to the CKP pin on the OBD-II PCM, and you will get codes for the missing CKP sensor. That will not affect how the engine runs. The CKP codes can be "programmed out" of the OBD-II PCM.
As you noted, it's only purpose is to detect misfires.
