Hello i have a cooling problem. My problem isent that the car overheats the temp runs normal but i smell coolent every now and then and cant find out where it is coming from? i checked the oil none in it there is no smoke what so ever coming out of the pips i put a piece of carboard under the car and all i get is a drop or two of oil nothing elese. i cant find the leak anywhere. i was thinking maybe the water punp or heater hose..

Are you losing any coolant?

 

Heater core would be my first guess. You don't need to have a puddle of coolant on the floor for it to be seeping and it's easy to smell.

 

Thanks guys i am not getting a puddle of coolent on the floor and am not loosing much coolent at all maybe a oint or so every couple weeks. it is enough to just drive a person mad trying to find where the leek is.

check the water pump weep hole. with a flash light and a floor jack you can see from under the car.
