Re: Come on guys, which CAI?

LS1 lid retro-fit is a majr pain in the nuts.

The best CAI, really, would be a Ram Air hood ( TA Style, not SS ) and a good filter. Its the straightest, highest flowing, intake path. Take a look at Injuneer's pics and you'll see what I mean. He also debaffled the ram air.

But really, your only gaining a couple horsepower going that route over a regular, big-name brand CAI. But if you plan to build any kind of blower/turbo car, ever, dont waste your time and money. Just buy a CAI, used on the board, use it until you go forced induction, and then sell it back on here for what you paid.

What good does that do? you can only flow as much air as the 3in MAF allows.

Is the 1LE elbow the best flowing elbow? All these trick flow and vortech elbows are metal and after a while will soak up a bunch of heat and increase your intake air temp, thus hurting power. The 1LE is at least rubber, any one got other ideas on this?

Each component of the air flow channel contributes to the total pressure loss in the system. Improving any single component can increase the air flow, if it reduces the total pressure loss. The system flow is not dependant only on the smallest component (although that component offers the largest opportunity for improvement). A larger filter, a larger diameter intake tube, less bends, smoother bends, etc. all reduce pressure loss and increase the density of the air that fills the cylinder.

Re: Come on guys, which CAI?

I got my ebay intake

Works great

Came with a K&N filter that came in an actual K&N box.

Essentially its all the same, its a 3" tube going deep into the front fender, and it stays pretty cool.

The only downside is that there isn't any mounting brackets, but its sitting on a bunch of stuff and its already pretty rigid, so really its no problem at all.

I'll save my $100 and spend it on somethin else.
