Code 48 Mass Air

Today my car started to knock a little bit on start up.
It ran fine after the check engine light came on.
When I got home I checked the Codes and it called out Code 48
Which is the Mass Air flow system failure.

Does this mean that my mass air sensor is broke?
How do I check to see if it is broke?

Re: Code 48 Mass Air

What year is your car???? Makes a small difference, because on the 96/97 models, there seems to be a problem with the pink wire that supplies +12V power to the MAF sensor failing. You can check that by using a volt meter on the pink wire in the harness connector.

If you have 12V on the pink wire, either the connector is damaged or the MAF sensor has failed.

Helpful Hint: Add a "signature" showing basic info, like year of your car, tranny type, major mod's etc. That helps people answer you tech questions.
