True Duals???

I was just wondering, what kind of true dual setup you guys are running? I have a 96 Z with both cats still intact running off of Hooker supercomp shorties. Are duals something that's reasonable with my current setup? I realize the cats will have to go, and I'm OK with that.Or should ditch the shorties and go LT? Any help would be appreciated.

Re: True Duals???

LTs sound better and are better for power as you start modding. I have Jet Hot Lt's into a 2 1/2" summit X pipe setup then Sweet Thunder mufflers. They are the same style as GMMG. Then my pipes exit right before the rear wheels, side pipes. I have horrible ground clearence with that setup, so dont do it if you have alot of potholes.

Re: True Duals???

well, I can neither confirm nor deny increased power with longtubes over mid's, I CAN tell you that they (the LT's) do indeed sound much better than the shorties. I just switched from Mac mids to Pacesetter longtubes, and the difference in sound was very noticable. I havn't had the chance to get to a trac yet to find out on the power increase (or lack thereof), but I CAN tell you that the car now will break loose on the third gear shift when it wouldn't before. Probably just due to the torque moving up a little, but wont amount to much. Sure sounds better though..

Re: True Duals???

try this: pacesetter LTs, a foot of 3in piping off each header and then a flowmaster 1 chamber slapped on the end of that... no X no H works for me and its cheap

Jet Hot coated LTs and purple horny header mufflers with the turndowns.
I have had this setup on the car for 2 years now. Its not as loud as you would think and its cheap. Easy to take off as well.

I am looking to go true dual sometime. How do you do the pieces that go over the top of the rear axle? The rest of the system looks easy enough to do.

I have under the axle and spintech mufflers. They sound amazing. Not very loud but enough to know its not stock.

You use BMR's panhard bar relocation brackets.

If you only do this you will mess up your suspension geometry, and to do it right is not worth the price. Ask me how I know....
