Coated Headers

I'm thinking of getting hooker super comp lt. I have the money to get them right know but i'm wondering if i should save and get them jet hot coated. I know this makes them better but i was wondering through personal experience. for someone who doesn't get to the track as often as i should and already have the fastest car in the neiborhood. Is it worth the extra money? And what kind of Hp gains can i expect with the jet hot vs. no jet hot. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated
Thanx

I don't personally know since I still have stock mani's on mine, but when I do get my headers I will get them ceramic coated. From what I've read here it does help HP by keeping the exhaust hot and pushing it out quicker since it is staying expanded and looking for the quickest way out, keeps your engine bay a little cooler, and it will help to keep your headers from rusting as quickly. Again, this is just what I have gathered here just my $ 0.02!

I think you should get them coated, not just for header longevity, but it will probably help save plug wires too.

My jet hot lasted only a couple months before rusting. My friends lasted about 5 before rusting. Jet hot offers a 1 year, but that means you have to send the headers back to them. BIG PITA to take them off car, then reinstall something that will do the same thing again.

Get the standard hookers, and have them nickle plated at a local shop. It wont look as pretty, but it will last, not rust, and be a good heat shield.

I'd look at a different cerametallic coater, like Paul Barry or AirBorn. There is no benefit in a nickle coating other than corrosion resistance. It will not retain heat like a cerametallic coating, which is applied to both the inside and outside of the tube. Reduced surface temperatures, reduced stress cracking, more HP due to improved scavenging, reduced underhood temps....

Another friend had the nickle plating done, and he didnt notice an increase in underhood temperature vs the jet hot coating. Now wether or not he actually measure with an infared thermo, i dont know, but i took his word for it.

I can't recalling hearing of any negative things about PBM, and not to rag on a company I have ZERO experience with, but I am on other boards with no relation at all to Chevy stuff and I have still heard some negative things about JetHot, so its not just here that you hear it. Maybe they are a large company in which case sometimes QC may not be as efficient.

Unfortunately its those stories that you hear that make me want to steer clear of them, but again I have zero first hand with JetHot.
