Help with Holley TB

I have a 58mm Holley TB, & first thing i had to do is modify the TPS so that it would show low voltage at idle, now that is done ok, but I'm having problems with the gas pedal, its either set too tight so the throttle blades aren't fully closed, or if I floor the pedal I still have travel in the TB for it to go a bit more, or best I got was both but I have to stand on the gas pedal very very hard, you can't do that & shift, maybe it'd be ok on an Automatic to keep on pressing the pedal through the floor but with standard I want it to be set right, what is wrong? I think the TB's aren't well made or something, thanx guys, any mod to accomodate this? thank you.

Just cuirous, how didd you adjust the TPS? I put a Holley 52mm on not too long ago, and I keep getting a code 22 (TPS voltage too low).

Seth you still get that too I get it when I get on it in fact the car will just die sometimes

There is a company on ebay that sell them, they sell for 60-70 on ebay but you can buy them direct for 49.99.

Or you could just inlarge the hole in the TPS sensor you have, it doesn't take much to get change the voltage.

If you want the email of that company let me know or just do a search on ebay

Thats right!! and it hasnt been the same since! haha. The only time I get the code 22 is when i get on it really hard and even then its not everytime, but after a little while, it goes away. I would love a copy of the data you have on how to change the voltage, the first open test and tune is coming up soon and I want to be ready.

You could buy the slotted ones on Ebay or drill the holes out on yours so they are slotted then adjust it slightly with the slots and use a volt meter to see the voltage. If you have a chiltons manual it shows you how to. I still haven't adjusted mine but I plan on doing it next week.

Mine will actually die when I'm driving hard, scared the hell of me the first time I think its cause once you get that code it tries to use the default tables instead of the TPS.

Yes I drilled the holes out bigger, hooker up the laptop(volt meter will sufice) & set the idle screw to where I want it, put the TPS on with the enlarged holes, check the voltage at idle & make sure its .60-.69 volts with blades closed, & open the blades all the way & make sure its below 5 volts, just put the tps with the enlarged holes on & put the screws in but don't tighten them, & you can move the TPS around a bit & make huge difference. Than there is the matter of throttle cable travel, do you guys have to literally apply your foot to the pedal real hard to get full throttle? LMK guys thanx.

yeah the SES would come on, I don't get the code cuz I butchered the TPS around like I said, but if you have a holley without a butchered TPS & you don't get a light than you're not getting full throttle, when you floor it, pop your hood & ask someone to see if there is anymore travel in your throttle blades on the TB, just floor it like you would normal & have someone check, I bet you'll be in for a surprize.

I got a BBK TB and installed it a few weeks ago. I didnt get any codes, so do I assume its in the right voltage range? Also, I checked the TB blades with the pedal down and they are wide open

Now do you drill the holes on the TPS sensor, or the place on the TB where it plugs into? Also, how big did you drill the holes out? And what did you use, a dremel?

The holes that the TPS mounts to the TB with there are two of them. Take a look and get a firm understanding of how it works and then you can adjust Hopefully it will get rid of the codes and help my idling problem I've had since installing the TB

don't even need to drill take a small round file & file those TPS holes on the TPS a few strokes & they're big cuz its plastic get an understanding which way you want them bigger, you want to be able to turn the TPS more towards the front of the car, the top of the tps towards the front more & connector part more the back, picture it in your head & make the holes bigger so that it can move in that direction more

Yeah this seems to only be a problem with Holley's my old BBK 58mm TB never had this problem.
