Take the intake elbow off, remove the 2 bolts on the thermostat housing, and replace thermostat.

Changing the thermostat itself is easy - just two bolts holding the housing to the water pump. But getting access to the water pump is another story. You have to remove a lot of stuff (intake elbow, AIR pump, radiator fans, some plug wires, hoses, etc).

That was to replace the entire pump though - might be able to skip some of that just to get a wrench on the thermo cover.

YOU dont have to remove the air pump, and radiatior fans to get access to the thermo. All that you take off is the intake elbow, then take off the 2 bolts(but before you loosen them put towels around the housing to catch as much water as posible). Then take old out, put new in. Put everything back together. Then start up your car and add as much water as needed. Put radiator cap on let it get to running temp and open the bleeder screws. You want ALL the air out of there. Then your done . Takes about 15 minutes.

It's easy. Just be careful to not get coolant on your opti. Drain a bit of fluid from the radiator to make sure. I'd also add Red Line or Purple Royal's Purple Ice while I was at it. This is the way I did it and it made a big difference in temperatures.
