i think coating of headers is a very good and wise investment for a set of headers that u plan on keepin for a good amount of time on the car....IMO

it doesnt take very long in VA weather for non-coated headers to start looking like rusted manifolds, every person i have talked to that bought non-coated headers wish they had bought coated ones.

Shue97_Z28 the coatings are basically the same. you should check out www.jet-hot.com for some info on ceramic coating.

My LTs were coated by Paul Berry (or is it Barry?)...

The guy that originally owned mine had them coated by him when new, he ran them for three years and had them recoated (no charge, only shipping costs) before I bought them. They look NEW, with the minor exception of some minor dings and scratches from the previous owner.

Coating is a wise investment IMO.

Coating is a good thing. Stick your hand on an uncoated header a few minutes after shutting the car off. You can with coated headers. And you won't burn out your heater box.

Cera-metallic coatings go far beyond being "pretty".

-significantly reduced under hood temperatures, less melted parts and burned wires, less heat soak on intake, etc.

-reduced corrosion - they don't rust from the "weather", its from 1200deg+ tube metal temperatures

-reduced stress cracking from heat cycling and vibration

-power gains up to 3% due to improved scavenging from higher temperature exhaust gasses

-look "pretty"

Alright, wait for a year or so and see that they will start to fade anyways. My buddy has his long tubes coated and now he wishes that he never would have WASTED $250 for that crap

I don't have to "wait for a year or so"..... I ran a set of JBA's for 3 years with my bolt-on setup, coated by Airborn, and they looked absolutley like new, nice satin aluminum finsih when I sold them. Got top $$$ for them.

I replaced them with a USED set of AS&M's with HPC coating, and now that the headers are 6 years old, and have seen close to 900HP on the previous engine, and 800HP of nitrous on mine, they are getting a little "dull"... but still look pretty good, still keep the heat in the tubes, still aren't cracked, etc.

"CRAP" seems to be your opinion of everything.

AS&M's after 2.5 years on a 9-sec., 30th SS......

JBA's after 2.5 years.

Coated headers look 10x better after longer periods of time and they keep the engine bay a notch cooler. My y-pipe is also Jet-Hot coated and it just looks damn good looking underneath!
