If i am building a NA would it be ok to use keith black Hypereutectic pistons?

 

Hypereutectic pistons are good for NA motors because they are generally lighter than forged pistons and they run with tighter clearances since they expand less than forged. They are not as strong which is why forged is a better choice for power adders.

 

Absolutely the Keith Blacks would be good in a N/A motor. I would even go as far to say you could run a 150shot of nitrous if you wanted to. Just be careful with timing you don't want any detonation as hyperutectics are brittle because of the silicon content. They are good pistons as BudM explained. Many people generally opt for the forged because of the added insurance if later they decide to spray or add boost.

 

What kind of power can they handle? Will they hold up against 500hp?

 

the only reason i am looking into new pistons is i am going to be running a big lift solid roller and don't want to run into problems.

 

The stock pistons will handle 500fwhp in a supercharged, or nitrous application if tuned properly. Certainly not the preferred choice but for the budget minded folks many are getting away with it myself included. But if I were to build a new bottom end it would have forged pistons. Because I like to use nitrous. But for those that want to build a nice N/A street strip engine I think the keith blacks would be a good choice.
