That's good to hear, because I am moving to Portland, OR, and they do emissions there. I do have this question...if the cats are "moved" will they still pass a visual? Reason I am asking is, I have no cat no with LTs, if I bolt the cat in the 3" pipe going back, will it be ok? As emissions goes it looks like I'll be ok, but I'm a little concerned about the visual.
I know Md. requires STOCK cat location...Another reason I went with MAC headers.

Cool... I'm going to look into a CC305 cam then... I would still like to know if anyone in CA has one though, and can pass fairly easy. I don't have to smog until october of '05, but still... when the time comes I want to be able to pass.

Besides...Nitrous likes 114

Frank
i see the concern with the vacuum
also, i was thinking better emissions and nitrous will definately like that cam
let us know what it runs after you spray it

My LPE 383 runs 11.70s @ 118 N/A and used to always pass emissions when I lived in MD....and I'm using a 211/219 @.050 with .533/.560" lift...Same combo for 10 years nothing but oil changes and spark plugs...Sometimes smaller is better...

I agree, my friend was able to run a best of 12.001 with a stock shortblock with the lingenfelter 74211 cam and afr 195 heads with the usuall bolt ons, didn't even have LT's. He had the arizona speed headers. He put down 360/357 to the wheels, not bad for a "small" cam. Makes you wonder sometimes

Frank is also potentially giving up some et/mph with the headers, and his small stall.
but damn,he can build a heckuva 4l60e

Lets look at my entire mod list compared to his. I had Mac headers, cc306, 1.6rrs and springs, moroso, and a csi wp. Stock gears, clutch, weight, bone stock heads, 150k engine that had 150 shot on it before I bought it. Do you really think I was trying to run good times with these mods? I really don't care if he went 12.0 and I went 13.0. Race me on the freeway and we would have been dead even.

What would the point be, racing on the highway? His 4.10's against your stock gears.

i dont understand the "150 shot on it before i got it" line. unless the guy melted a few holes in the pistons, nitrous doesnt hurt it.

my bolt on car went 12.36@109 (stock heads/cam) and ran 11.02@124 on a 175 shot, with 2 years of 150 shot abuse before hand.

why race on the freeway? thats what tracks are for

Im with you, I want my car 'as legal as possible.' Just got one question for ya... MAC's site says theyre headers arent emissions legal. Are all MAC's this way or can you get an emissions legal set? I will most definetly be going with MAC's if they are 100% legal.

That may apply to some states. MAC's are a little more emission friendle than LT's, because you can still use a cat, and you can still hook up yout AIR, and EGR. Mine still has all the emissions BS on the headers hooked up. Everyone should keep that in mind when they think they need to eliminate AIR and EGR, etc. when they want to run fast
Alot of states emissions inspects every 2 years. That's why I see so many LT1 cars becoming "race only" cars...Because it's too much hassle to make them emissions legal again after you've installed longtubes, or done away with the AIR, EGR, and AIR pump.
I'll admit, I like to go fast...but...I'll also admit that I hate working on stuff over and over again. I choose to do it right the first time and not have to mess with it again. I can't see the point in storing all my emissions stuff for 2 years and then having to reinstall it every time I've got to go through emissions. Hell, it's bad enough I've got to spend 20 minutes swapping the ORP for the cat to run it through emissions...I certainly wouldn't want to swap headers every 2 years...LOL
I like driving my car too much, so it'll never be a "trailer queen". I've put almost 100 miles on the car in the past 2 days...If it had been hot enough, I could've still used the A/C, too.

My point is that it was an old worn out engine and it was still as fast as this guy with way more mods. My car was not built for the track and his is, so I would expect more out of his car. The 12.0 is decent, but with his set up I would expect that time without a set of heads.

You also forgot to figure in DA when comparing timeslips.

"set up for track"? since when was stock suspension setup for the track? gears yeah they are slightly track biased.

Nitrous doesnt exactly wear out an engine,Frank has a 90+k mile stock shortblock.

just remember,MPH doesnt mean squat if the ET isnt there,it's just wasted power.

Nitrous doesnt exactly wear out an engine,so hopefully it had a lot of miles,Frank has a 90+k mile stock shortblock.

Slicks, skinnies, big converter, heads, gears, ds, TB, 100lbs lighter than my car was, 1.67 60'. That is compared to my car with stock gears, stock clutch, stock heads, ****ty tires cutting 2.2 60's. Nope he is not setup for the track at all. Like I said my car had 150k on it, so yeah it did have a lot of miles on it. And I am sure the nitrous did not help the aging process.
