CC305=12.0 (N/A)=passed emissions

Last season I did ported heads, CC305, 58MM t-body, 30# Accels, and MAC headers.
The main goals for the MAC headers was so that I could still run a catalytic converter, because I live in MD, which is an emissions inspection state. I have 2 intermediate pipes for the car...One is an ORP with a cut-out, and the other is my cat. Both are the same length and flanged identically. The swap takes about 20 minutes.
I chose the CC305 because of the 114* LSA and the mild lift and duration.

With the ORP and the cut-out open, the car went 12.0 @ 112 MPH(N/A) MPH last season. This is a stock 95,000 mile bottom end motor in a full weight, stock suspension, car! This was after hearing the whole time I was collecting part..."The CC305 is too small", and "you'll never run fast with mid lengths".

The icing on the cake came earlier today. I bolted my cat back on, and made no other changes to the car to run it through MD emissions "tread mill" test. MD tests the cars on dynos, so they can check at different loads and RPM's. This thing passed by such a margin it wasn't even close!

12.05 in the 1/4 mile and passes emissions. Nice job Frank. I hope to do the same in the near future with some LE heads, small cam, and other misc. parts that are collecting dust out in the garage.

Wow, your set up is exactly what i'm going for, and I live in GA and they test the emissions here the same way. What cat. back are you running? I'm trying to figure out what sound i want to get out of it. I was really worried about the headers and cam passing emissions, but I guess with the right tuning it can be done after all.

Flowmaster cat-back. Check out my web site, ans click on
"93 stats and specifications" to find out pretty much anything about the car.

That is pretty cool, Frank. I do have a few off-topic questions for you, if you don't mind.

Do you shift your car manually or do you let her shift? What RPM do you/does it shift at? Did you ever dyno it?
Thanks!

Not bad, but why wouldn't it pass emissions? And I don't really think 112 traps is that fast for your set up or even fast for a car that passes emissions.

That thing is moving pretty good for that "small" cam.

112 isnt bad for a fullweight full option car going 12.0's. 13.0@112 isnt really much impressive, but depends on your expectations.

Frank is also potentially giving up some et/mph with the headers, and his small stall.
but damn,he can build a heckuva 4l60e

Thanks everyone...

Dirk, I kinda liked your old sig. messege...Something about MPH not winning drag races. Show me where it ever gives drag racing results that say..."He won the race eventhough he crossed the finish line last...because he had a better MPH".

Kreinmc...The only thing I've got to say is, I've got you covered by a full second. You see a full second at the finish line, not MPH. So we're both trapping 112? I'm doing it with an A4, and the car had 4.10's in it with 26" tall tires at the time.

The main objective of this post was to let everyone know you don't have to build an illegal car to run fast, as well as to answer a question that gets asked about once a week..."Will a particular cam pass emissions?" I wanted everyone to know that yes, a CC305 will. Wasn't the idea of this forum so that we could all share information?

Since my car is a '93, it was the last year for the governor controlled 4L60 (700R4). I shift the car manually while racing at 62000 RPM. The trans. still maintains the full automatic capability though. When I drive the car on the street, I just leave it in drive, and it drives like any other "normal" car.

The last time my car was dynoed it still had a completely stock motor in it with exhaust manifolds and no cut-out. With the stock cam, heads, t-body, injectors, FPR, etc. it made 268 RWHP. Funny thing is, the car was running 12.82 @ 106 MPH at the time.
I'm guessing somewhere around 360-370 in it's present form.

Frank
