can't get my SuperDamper off!!!!

can't get my SuperDamper off!!!!

i've tried a puller several times. i can't get that damn thing off...yes, i am pullin on the damper and pushing on the bolt in the crank. help

If you mean the engine is rotating then I recommend a Crane brass piston stop. Turn the engine by hand until the piston contacts the stop and then use the puller. If it happens to be a stick then put it in the highest gear and you might try the parking brake. You would probably have thought of that if it was a stick though.

the motor is out of the car. the engine doesn't turn...i just can't get the puller to budge the damper off the crank

Time to break out the torch and PB-Blaster....heat it up a bit then let the penetrant sit for a while.

Personally I have never had a damper that would not come off with a puller...take a good look and make sure you are pushing on something that isnt supposed to come off with the damper.

i don't want to weaken anything with heating. the ati superdamper is actually much easier in looks than the stock setup. i have a bolt in the end of the crank, which i am using to push off of on the puller which is connected to the balancer

Are you sure there is no washer on the bolt and the bolt is backed out far enough so the head is not on the flange of the damper?

You will not hurt anything, I'm not saying get it red-hot, just heat it up to 200* and it should suck the penetrant in and make it easier to remove.
