Can The Opti Be Installed Wrong?

I just installed a new GM Opti in our 1996 Z28. I have not done any further re-assembly.
If the Opti unit seats flush against the timing cover before the bolts are threaded, does that mean it is indexed correctly?

Thank you for the confirmation,
Rick

Anything can be installed wrong. And I don't believe sitting flush is a guaranty.
Is the rotor pointed at the exact same clock angle as the old one. You did mark it??

The opti can be forced on wrong. But, if it easily slides against the timing cover, it should be right.

Oh, briefly start the engine before reinstalling the water pump and other accessaries. This may help avoid another teardown.

It can easily be installed wrong, but here is the trick to doing it painlessly.

You can run the motor without the water pump attached to test the opti for correct install. Let it run for about 10 seconds and you will know if you did it right.
