I am very happy with the GM hotcam. It works well with a blower too. It will pass smog in CA, no doubts here. A bigger cam would do me no good.

So a CAI gives a m6 car more hp than an auto car.You would have to get the hc kit with the rr's and all the other goodies and computer tuning to get anywere near 30-40rwhp. The cam alone by no means can do it. Dont tell me he used a desktop dyno to get those numbers.
Manuals dyno higher due to less drivetrain loss. That's why it matters. Dont' be a smartass when you are without clue.

Alright guys keep it cool, it's just a camshaft. It can't be a piece of junk or a magical stick, it just sets certain parameters for the engine to work in.

And like Frank said, smaller cams are actually better for stock setups. The engine builders and ENGINEERS on this site have already debated this issue. People get confused when they hear the importance of port velocity and that the stock heads have awsome port velocity, so they draw the conclusion that big cams work well in the stock heads which just isn't true. You can't have your cake and eat it too with camshafts. It's all a bunch of compromises, you have to sacrifice in one area to gain in another.

I agree-
there is no magical camshaft. and bigger isn't always (and usually isnt' on stock bottom ends) better

edit:
some people talking WAY over their heads on this one

m6 = less drivetrain loss. which in turn, equals more rwhp.

and no, he didn't use desktop dyno. went to a place here in fremont, ca. I believe its known to dyno a little on the low side.

I agree with trey. lot of people here talking out of their asses.

Many people (including me) can't afford to do the headwork. The hotcam is an awesome cam for stock heads. Or should I get a custom grind comp cams 218/228 with .525/.525? Would that make you happier?

The HOT cam works well with stock heads and the kit is a bargain. There are some other "small" cams that work better for certain setups, and one of the knowedgable people who frequents advanced tech really likes one of the TPIS cams for stock heads (I forget which). But for a good cam for stock heads at a great price it's hard to beat the HC kit.
