I don't think 30-40rwhp is out of the question... I take it you have had a hotcam in your car. If not whats you problem? Lots of people get great numbers out of it, along with good street manners.

He doesn't have the HC. And no, that's more like 40-50 crank hp. You won't see it with the cam itself, but with the KIT and TUNING you'll get close. Look around for the dyno sheets from people who have done the before and after comparisons.

Wow glad I don't have 60% drivetrain hp loss!
I've seen several dyno charts of 30-40 rwhp gains.

just to throw this out there, my friend with a 96z28 has a moroso cai, as&m headers, a high flow cat, cutout, hotcam and 1.6RRs - and with an exhaust leak he dynoed 324rwhp. And this is an A4. (this is on an ed wright program)

so ~30rwhp is definitley possible from the hotcam and 1.6 RRs - especially if you have an m6. research your **** before you go around running your mouth..

That's what I was thinking.....in my opinion the hotcam is kinda like a mustang, someone has to drive the slower car!!

you can tell me that after you actually have the mods to beat a HC'ed car. from the looks of it, you can't.

and stop selling people used optis telling them its new.

edit: ok i guess i'm in a bad mood tonight. sorry. i'll stop picking fights. i apologize, i've just had a really crap assed day.

I was asking the same question about emissions passing for blower cams. I did a search a found a post in LT1 tech where a guy had the 224/236 cam with 383 engine and passed in California http://web.camaross.com/forums/showt...ight=224%2F236 I'm guessing the with his extra cubes helped him pass easier, not entirely sure. I was surprised to see this, since it is a pretty big cam. I know this is usually a blower cam set with 114 LSA, and it doesn't say what his is.

You have dicussed the merits of the Hotcam and different Comp cams. But I believe that on a stockhead combo that the Crane 210/224 should be considered. Now if you're going with ported heads there are better selections but I'm pleased with power and daily driving of the 210/224 on my stockhead combo. I made 331 through a 12bolt and Vig3200 unlocked and have run times in sig with stockheads and bottomend. Just another thought on the subject. Frank95z

Yeah, not everyone can play with the big dogs. As sad as it sounds, I think I would rather have a mustang than the HC.

Why would it matter if it were an m6 or not. So a CAI gives a m6 car more hp than an auto car.You would have to get the hc kit with the rr's and all the other goodies and computer tuning to get anywere near 30-40rwhp. The cam alone by no means can do it. Dont tell me he used a desktop dyno to get those numbers.

Considering that the Hotcam is sold as a KIT with 1.6RR's included, you can pretty well bet that most cars with a Hotcam have the full kit, and most usually get tuned also... tuning is needed to get the most power out of any motor changes.
