Hooker LT concerns...

Well I am half way done with my hooker long tubes. Man what a PITA! I had to jack up both sides of the engine, loosen the ABS module to get them in.

On the Dvr. side the headers come damn close to the brake lines, about a 1/4 - 1/2". It worries me. Will it be o.k like that or do I have to protect them?

On the passenger side there is a wiring harness that runs down along the fender down to the starter. I am pretty sure its about touching the primary. What did you guys do with this wreing harness? It doesnt hav that much slack to reroute it or move it out of the way.

Thanks, I am going back at 0900 to finish it up. any help is appreciated.

Jeff

I routed the brake line behind the heat shield and pounded it flat. On the wire harness I put asbestos around it, no problems..................yet.

Zip ties are your friend. Just undo where the stock connectors are for the wires in question, and move them out of the way, then zip tie back in place.

As for the brake line; I never toched mine, and haven't had any problems.......

I have always heard that if the wires are less than half an inch away, then there could be trouble. I personally moved the ABS wires down further, because the big white connector sat very close, but you can simply pull it down further out of the way, and zip tie it down. The starter wire harness bundle I routed like the others also, by routing them between the header primaries then through the motor mount hole, this left ample room. I tied the bundle to my over the cover wire loom holder, to make sure it didn't move. I think a cleaner install would be to extend the wires, but thats more work than what I wanted to do. Are you making extenders for the O2 sensors, or did you buy them? I spliced my own, and didn't have a problem, it went very quick also, so don't be afraid of doing this if your on a tight budget.

Well I left the brake lines alone they are behind the heat shield. I drove the car home today and I noticed that it barey taps the heat shield but I think it will be o.k The ABS lines I couldnt move at all or reroute. I may have to extend the wire but would it be safe to do this for the pass ABS? I had to extend the starter wire also. I did reroute it through the motor mount jsut like ACA said to.(thanks)

Those Taylor wires and over the valve cover looms are a PITA. I did a few of them but I ran out of time. I have to take the car to the local muffler shop this week to have the new piping mated up to my Dynomax Ultra-flow.

Thanks for your help guys!
