Advance doesn't sell GMPP. I searched the web for a cheap GMPP LT4 hotcam kit and found many that were cheaper then Summit. I would check all the sponsor sites and see what they charge first. Always best to support the board sponsors when ever you can IMO.

Stroker is 1000% correct don't mix and match you will spend more money in the end, and never get the results you are after. Thats why GMPP offer such a total complete kit.

Think of it this way. The guys at GM Performance parts do this everyday, for longer than us. They know better than you and I what works with there cam. Know what I mean?

tbyrnemotorsports.com is asking like 640 for it, pretty spendy.
im 99% sure that is the same kit, it says its for a LT1, you could always call them and double check

i tried to froogle it, but had no luck
after the results of my next compression test, i am actually probably going to run a hotcam kit until i have the 4k or so for my rebuild.

Internet sales representatives for dealerships. Jason Cromer is for Sam Taylor in Florida I think and Dal (cant spell his last name) is for VanDevere in Akron, Ohio. Both sell many GM parts at much lower prices than other dealerships. I got my WP, Opti, and LS1 tranny mount from Dal. They used to have internet sites for pricing, but I dont think either of them do anymore.

I'm running the LT4 Hotcam. It's a good cam for someone who wants near stock drivability, with a little lope and is on a budget. If youre really on a budget, like I was, the cam can also be purchased individually. The cam, springs and supporting valvespring hardware can all be had for around $250. Any mail order tuner should be able to pretty much nail the tune for you first go round as it is a popular cam which has been around for quite some time. You can always come back and do rocker arms later on.

I am personally running my stock rockers. I am loosing a bit of lift, but I somehow managed 322rwhp and 333rwtq on a Mustang dyno through headers and a 3" exhaust. For comparison's sake I put down 278rwhp prior to the cam install on a dynojet... which typically read higher than mustang dynos do. I've seen people running this cam dyno up to 345rwhp through a 6 speed with stock heads, 1.6 roller rockers on a dynojet.

The Hotcam kit is a bargain and it works well with otherwise stock parts. I'd recoomend it for what you are planning.

Good info, I always wondered how well the Cam alone ran without all the bells and whistles. Steve you have any times on your car?

Not yet... I havent had a chance to get down to the track. I havent had the cam in that long I just dynoed it about 2 weeks ago. Hopefully I will get a chance to run the car this friday. I'm no professional driver though... I'll be happy to cut a 2.0 60' on my street tires.

ok so i can run it without the roller rockers? I dont mind upgrading later, but that 300$ish difference will mean the difference between putting stock manifolds and getting headers or a catback.

ill have to find someone with jsut the cam and springs then

thank you all for hte info!!! I like these forums people are actualyl helpful
