Cam Install Question

So I just installed my new cam. I have also put on the retainer and the oil pump drive, I havent put in the lifters yet. My question is the cam can still move forward and back a little, maybe 3/8 an inch or less, just an estmimate mind you. Is it still supposed to move even with the retainer in and the oil pump drive in?

Well, I just went and looked at it again. Im guessing once I put the timing chain and sprocket back on it wont be able to move forward and back.Is this correct?

Re: Cam Install Question

Yeah, after you put the timing set on it will barely move.
