Re: More Horsepower

Are you looking for 400-450HP at the flywheel or at the rear wheels?

What is your budget?

Does your car have a manual or automatic transmission? If automatic, do you have 2.73 or 3.23 rear gears?

the car is Auto for now. its not 2.73 for sure is 3.??
Depending on Labor cost i would want a T56.

Re: More Horsepower

The estimate of $5000 mentioned is pretty accurate.

EDIT: If you're doing a T56 swap in addition to that 400HP that's going to raise your budget closer to $6000.

It's accurate if he is keeping it as a stock shortblock and doing a heads/cam. If his stock shortblock needs a rebuild, even going to a 355 will add an easy $2000 right there for machining, pistons/rings, bearings, gaskets, etc.

OP-does your car have any mods done to it right now? You will need headers, a cat-back, a decent CAI, a tune, etc.

Re: More Horsepower

Nitrous..... ~600 bucks kit will get you 400whp on a fairly stock LT1, just do typical exhaust mods and let it eat for cheap

easy to install too

Re: More Horsepower

If u go the heads and cam route id go with AI "advanced induction" there proven. like stated prob cost 2000 more if u rebuild. If u go 355 u need to buy good pistons machine shop can take care of everything from there. 383 u have to get stroker kit and machine can take over from there.
