Blue smoke after cam install

Hi guys!

My engine is blowing a thick cloud of smoke at idle after a XE 233/239 cam install. Before the cam change there was no blue smoke at all, car has 46k miles.

Why is my engine burning oil at idle?

I have unplugged the PCV tube from the TB, but it's still smoking.
I haven't replaced the valve seals when changing the springs, I thought it will be fine with stock 46k seals. Does the increased valve lift immediately destroy the stock seals?

What could it be , please help!

TIA,

Re: Blue smoke after cam install

It is most likely the seals. I had the same problem, checked compression and it was good, so replaced the seals and smoke stoped.

Re: Blue smoke after cam install

I just used GM seals when I did my spring install. They worked perfect.

yep definetly the seals. Viton valve stem seals are pretty much the new standard in seals. I highly recommend.

I'll throw my 2 cents in as well and say seals.

Just use the factory positive replacement ones.

Definiately, just have to pull the springs.
