Balancer hub

Looks like I need a new balancer hub for my '93 LT 1. M6. Because of oil leak at the seal.
Still has opti, stock except for cam and some bolt ons..
Cannot find one, can they be machined and a larger seal be installed?
Any suggestions are appreciated.

Re: Balancer hub

You can buy a hub. For example

https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo...035852&jsn=514

They also make "speedy sleeves" for them but just get a new hub if it is scored from the seal

Crank hub leak is not that common. Typically the WP drive seal leaks and oil drips down TC making it appear to be from crank

The Felpro TC gasket/seal kit has all the seals you will need for about $12

Use the correct puller/install tool or a home made version of one to get hub on & off

Re: Balancer hub

The damper/pulley hub changed in 1996 LT1's. They made is shorter so the crankshaft position reluctor could fit behind it. Make sure you get the longer one for 93-95.

Re: Balancer hub

the link I posted from rock auto was for a 93....but the note in description says "short" which may mean it is for the 96 that uses a reluctor wheel for CPS

A new correct hub should be available if it is not the part # RA lists

Parts Geek shows the same part # as RA does...FWIW

or JEGS

Re: Balancer hub

Probably worth posting on the “Parts Wanted” forum inthe Marketplace. And checking “Parts for Sale”.
