Hey guys my buddy has a 94 z its acting like its out of gas or is not getting fire it will start but will barley run the cataltyic converter is glowing red but was replaced just a year ago. What do you all suggest be the first thing i try to fix the problem? Keep in mind that this camaro is completly stock

 

Is it glowing at the headers too, or just the cat? Is it backfiring a lot? If the exhaust manifolds are glowing, it sounds like and ignition problem, with unburnt fuel hitting the primaries and burning.

To be sure, test everything.

Thoroughly check for burnt wires, check for fouled spark plugs.

The manifolds where not glowing but it was backfireing alot and it would seem to clear up and then i would turn the car off and it was a repeat. Pluse the car would idle bad with smoke coming from back of motor.
