Bad fuel pump after cam install?

Installed the cc306 with valve springs, pushrods, etc. 3 weeks ago and am forced to drive the car 1.5 miles to and from work in the meantime until I have money for the tune. Driving it un-tuned wasn't a huge deal at first other than the fact that it is running ungodly rich. Is it possible that the uber-rich condition destroyed the fuel pump? After a week or so the car started dying several times on initial startup until the RPMs stabalize. It also is exhibiting some of the symptoms of the bad fuel pump I had back in April (Just had this damn thing put in!). The icing on the cake was yesterday, when I put it up to around 2k RPMs to make a yellow light and had the car actually stall out while moving after letting off the gas. I feathered the pedal and it stuttered and continued running and I was able to make it home in one piece.

Have you used a fuel pressure gauge to verify fuel pressure both with the key on, engine running, and at throttle?

Running it "ungodly rich" won't destroy the fuel pump. But it will carbon up your plugs and O2 sensors, wash down the cylinder walls and dilute the oil, etc.
