Bad Alternator Cause Power Loss?
I was wondering if a bad alternator and battery can cause power loss?
I dyno'd a couple of days ago and was only registering ~9-10 volts on the gauge. The next day, the alternator and battery gave up on me.
I pulled 291 rwhp & 338 rwtq @ 4900 rpm, but I was wondering if I could have made 300 rwhp?
TIA

Well I am not 100% sure but...... I am thinking that your fuel pump pressure may have been less than Ideal..... also your alternator may have been overcharging your bat and in the process probably adding a slight drag to your engine..or your battery was in a semi-short circuit state and overloading the Alternator (thats why your voltage was so low) Oh and lest not forget your Inginition voltage at the plugs would defenetely have been lower..
But like I said before... its all maybes. Fix it and dyno it without any other changes and see what comes out of it.

bad alt and or low voltage will certainly cause a power loss due to the ecm /fuel pump not getting enough voltage ....13.0 + is optimum below 12 volts computer doesnt react as fast and also things such as injector drivers etc doesnt function properly...anyone want to test that theory take it to the track and run a pass with alt belt on and then with alt belt off...you will see a decrease in performance in ET and MPH...
