Thicker oil (mineral) will adhere a bit better...
it is personal choice and depends on what you like and goals. So I understand why you said what you did Brad...but either oil you use will be fine. The reason synthetic is so big...is because it doesnt have alot of the contaminants that mineral oil has...also which helps prevent wear, acid break down, and detonation, and it holds up better at higher and lower temperatures. there are +'s to using synthetic, but I prefer mineral. i dont think I should get flamed for it, but then again I didnt explain my answer. I have heard good results about using both...and dont think either one is a 'bad' choice...he asked for opinions and i offered one. I apologize if you dont agree...but that is the freedom of having opinions.

Re: Anyone use Valvoline MaxLife synthetic?
Conventional oil and synthetic oil with the same viscosity rating have roughly the same viscosity. Especially if you're comparing products from the same company (i.e. Valvoline 10W30 compared to Valvoline Synthetic 10W30). Where have you heard otherwise?
Synthetic oil takes much longer to break down and doesn't clump up the way conventional oil does.
