Yeah, I started using Mobil 1 10W30 in the summer in hopes of quieting down the piston slap and noisy lifters (or what sounds like lifters?? ). I honestly don't think it made a big difference though.

I have been using 5W30 Valvoline Synthetic for my last 2 oil changes. I've been very happy so far. It seems that my "piston slap" noise has gone away now that I've switched from Mobil 1 5W30 to the Valvoline Synthetic 5W30. BTW I've got approximately 23,000 miles on my Z28 so either the change in oil brands has helped or the engine has "matured".

10W/30 Mobil 1 in both Z's. Like the manual says above 32F 10W/30 is good. Not manny times do we see less than that in CC, Tx. Later>>>>>>

Talking 10W30 here !!

Either Wal Mart Super Tech (in car as of now) or Mobil 1.

Mobil 1 10W30 seems to be hit or miss as far as availability, so next change I will use the 5W30 sitting in the garage.

I bought 6 quarts & a filter of the 10W30 off a guy on this board , but decided to use that in my Suburban when i changed the oil this Saturday.

I like Royal Purple, mut that stuff is expensive @ like $ 6.00/qt. !!

Later !

Woohoo, another local. So thats about 5 locals so far on here. We have an f-body club started, always looking for members. Most of the guys post on ls1tech. On occassion we run to RiverCity, Edenburg, and i am hoping to go to HRP this saterday. Plus we have hung out with the san antonio guys for a dyno day. If your interested, throw me an email at Rass02@yahoo.com . Plus its always nice to call someone up to help with a cam swap .

But you also have to understand that the manual is speaking in terms of dino oil. Synthetics have different properties. I would suggest for better flow on startups to run a lower vis.. makes sense to me.. I would rather my oil move easily from the get go than it take a little..

I am in Houston.. I know what you mean about the average year round temps... the other people on this board just dont know what its like to be having a christmas bar-b-que outside in shorts! :P
hehe
