Anyone in the middle of pulling thier pan? I need clearance measurements...

OKay, this is my deal. I talked about changing out the bearings on a 50k car and I got slammed for it, thank you all very much . Now I have a car with 190k on it. Anyone want to slam me for changing THEM out? (oh boy, did I just ask for it!!) Now, its in the cards to change them so I can get at least another 30k outta the engine.

I will be working under the car on the drive way. I know I have t lift the engine, drop the cross frame bolts, yada yada... Has anyone or can anyone jack up the engine far enough to get the pan off, put it back on and measure the distance between the pan and cross member? It sure would be nice to know my target space before I pull the last bolt so it just comes out, instead of getting up, jacking the engine/car or what ever, crawling back under there, wrestling with the pan repeating the process over and over 100 times Sure would save a lot of time, not to mention my back, lol.

Just pull the engine out from the bottom and put it on a stand. Much easier imo. I would also plasti gauge the berrings to make sure there out of spec. If there not then leave it alone. At 190k the berings would be the least of my worries. I would check the compression and see if maby its time for new rings.

Unortionatly I do not have the place to pull the engine from underneath (or anywhere for that matter, my HOA would KILL me and kick me out, lol), but, it did get an emissions test a few K back. The tests read as HC= 0.02 CO = 0.3 NOx = 0.23 . I am not sure what sign that is as far as the rings go but the readings are pretty darn low, so, I am assuming the rings are in the okay range? I know, it is pretty sad to get it 90% rebuilt and not do the rings but whats a man to do?

Then again, if anyone wants to come pull my heads for me so I can get the pistons out, there is some beer in it for you. Wuld be a great apprentice oppertunity.

Until then, I just need to make sure the oil pan drops out without it being an all day job of getting up and down. If someone had some measurements (like any of us think of that including me at the time), it should be a quick simple proceedure, I hope.
