Wheel width and clearance

I am looking at getting some 18x9.5" Corvette C6 Grand Sport Style Gloss Black aluminum replica wheels, 5x4.75" lug pattern +40 mm offset (6.82" backspacing) all the way around. i am thinking of either 275/35/18 or 265/35/18 all the way around as well. will i have any clearance issues?

Also, ive come across some wheels that say they are for camaros and have a 5x120.7mm pattern. Would that be a problem? I think stock is 5x4.75 (120.65mm).

Thank you

Re: Wheel width and clearance

The picture below is with 17 x 9.5" 49mm wheels. The offset is what is important. Tires are 275/40-17 (25.7"). With 40mm offset, your wheel will be moved about 1/3" outward. May have some rubbing of the outer edge of the tires on the front inner fender liners with the wheels at full lock, or hitting a hard bump. Back will be OK.

Your stock tires were either 235/55-16 (26.2") or 245/50-16 (25.7"). If you had the 245's, the 275/35-18 (25.6" will be a close enough match to avoid throwing the speedo/odometer off, without a PCM reprogram. The 265/35-18 is only 25.3" diameter, and to me, thats too small - thinner sidewall exposes rims to pothole damage, increases ride harshness, and opens up the already too large gap between the top of the tire and the fender lip.... not by much, but enough.

I would consider 285/35-18 (25.8").

I've seen a number of sites where they show the 4.75" bolt circle as 120.7mm. They have just "rounded off" 120.65mm.

Re: Wheel width and clearance

Thank you for the reply. What are the advantages of 285's vs. the 275's?

Sorry for so many questions, what about a wheel with 56mm offset? Would it rub?

Re: Wheel width and clearance

18x9.5 w/56mm offset and 275/35/18 will fit perfectly.

Re: Wheel width and clearance

285 will give you a bit more tread on the pavement, a tiny bit more sidewall, a tiny bit more fender gap fill, and get you closer to stock tire diameter, if your car came with the 235/55-16 tires.

56mm offset will move the outside edge of the tire inwards about 1/4" compared to the photo. I can post a pic of my car with 56mm in the front if you want.
