On the head flow thing Lloyd makes an interesting point in saying

"I am not sure who tested them and what they were wanting the end result to show"

Like I wonder why is it that one popular vendor seems to use a 4.060 bore for flow testing when a 4.030 is all the overwhelming majority of LT1 builds will be bored too.

Some shops will play some games to inflate flow numbers, and sometimes even put the info in the fine print knowing most people wont look that close.

I Love seeing this.

Dyno numbers mean D!CK, put that bitch on the track and show me some numbers.

If you say you got 500RWHP in a 3300lb car and you only trap 125/126mph and 60ft 1.50.....you MIGHT not have 500rwhp.

Show me some ET slips and the Da.....anyone that knows anything about drag racing knows what power a car makes by the weight and mph.

how does the type of transmission factor into this?

It dont, rwhp vs the weight its pulling is where trap MPH comes from.

The only variables are 60 ft and the DA.

The trans only affects the elapsed time, think of it this way.

You got a X weight car running X et, trapping X mph and the car is lacking in 60ft. SO you put a trans brake and more gear in the car to make it 60 ft better(or more gear and grow some nads to step off the clutch at 6500 rpm)....it will trap almost identical or even slightly less because of the better 60 and 330 ft time....the power to weight is the same, hence the same trap mph....it will ET better because you are taking better advantage of the power you have.

My car has had the same trap mph but I have made the car hook better and it is .2 QUICKER but the power to weight has not changed so the trap MPH has not changed.

A stick car vs an auto car with the same rwhp and weight...will trap the same but the auto will almost always ET better.Because it 60 fts better.

If you got a stick car that weighs 3500lbs and makes 450rwhp, and an auto car that weighs 3500lbs and makes 450 rwhp....do you really think they would trap different mph?

A stalled auto will spend the whole time on the track in the powerband right at peak power, where as a manual car will be climbing and going down the powerband. And I love how a certain someone keeps comparing someones shakedown passes to his fully dialed in car.

If a 34xx lb car with 520rwhp can trap 138mph you would think a 37xxlb 470rwhp car could pull more than 124 mph, unless the 470rwhp car doesn't have as much power as he thinks.

#1 my car is no where near "fully dialed in", where did that come from? I got MAYBE 18 passes on mine? 15 of which were figuring out my suspension...NO track tuning has been done. YET

#2 How do you think and 3 speed automatic can stay in the powerband MORE than a 4 speed stick car??????????? You got an extra gear in the stick car and they are more closely spaced.....keeping the rpms closer together when you shift. When a 4L60E shifts from 1st to second there is a HUGE drop in rpm.

And FYI on my "shakedown" passes my car went 11.22@122, weighing 3800lbs with two wounded pistons(441rwhp unlocked). 60 ft was a 1.59

WOW!

Wow so where does that leave you and Aleks? Aleks 500 rwhp and 3300lbs traps the same as my 450rwhp(unlocked) 3750lb car, 125 mph....the math on that is screwey.

Do a LITTLE research....my car is right inline with its RWHP vs weight. 3750 LBS with 450 rwhp SHOULD trap 124 and it does.ITS 3750 POUNDS!

So you got 430 rwhp and weigh less than me by what? 200 lbs? You should be able to trap 124 no problem.....right? No wait, Alek is lighter than YOU by 200 lbs with 500rwhp and only traps 125

So in review, you have 20 less rwhp than me, you weigh less...so you should trap 124 NO PROBLEM right, after all you and Aleks have the same heads...right? Lets see if you can.

So what are you saying exactly? I outweigh Aleks by 520 lbs, so I need 550 rwhp to run the same MPH? Or weight means absolutley nothing in the drag racing world?

And by your statement, Aleks weighs 100 lbs LESS than the car trapping 138 and has 20 less RWHP, so it should trap...what....132?

And oh yeh, what does your car weigh?
