it might be good if you were building a torque motor, with the right cam not what ever he has in there.

From the ad: This is a highly modified 1996 trans am convertible. The engine is a 383 that runs on an accel gen 7+ DFI fuel injection. The intake on this car is off a marine application. The heads had to have the runners slightly relocated for port matching. The car dynoed at 413 hp at the tires and 438 ft/lbs torque. That means that the engine makes well over five hundred horse at the flywheel on engine alone, and over 550 ft/lbs of raw torque. Those numbers are on 93 octane pump gas. This should put this car into the 11's without any grief. The Accel system does allow for up to three stages of NOS if the output on engine alone is not enough. The lower end is well built and should support a small blower or NOS. The accel system allows for shift retards and boost retards. The fuel system is more than capable of keeping up with a blower, turbo, or NOS, other than the injectors may need upgraded...

Yep, the intake is a marine application...Nice torque numbers...right now its at $202.50...might not float my boat, but its pretty interesting...

Yup we got that, i was just wondering if any one else had heard of using that particular intake on an LT1, and if so how well it worked. But after a few hours of research i found that it is only designed to work upto 5200rpm so it would be pretty pointless to do.

OK i got a reply from the guy selling the car. This is what he wrote:

This intake was new to the marine industy i believe in 2004. It was used by mercury in their high end boats. It was never available or marketed to the public. I managed to get the service manager at the dealership to talk indmare into selling them the upper and lower intake and one set of valve covers. If i remember correctly the cost was close to 1800.00. It took about three months to actually get the intake after i ordered it. This intake is not made for stock LT1 heads it is designed for the new generation vortec head that has two intake bolts on each corner.

ok i talked with te guy some more, and he did go with that intake mostly for looks. I did get this out of him too:
It was above 380 ft/lbs of torque from 2500rpms all the way to 7000rpms with the peak torque being 438 at just over 4000. And that is at the tire. It was an amazingly flat curve.

That is a pretty nice torque curve.
