Adjusting Valves, Question.
Adjusting Valves, Question.
If your trying to set the valves using a spin-the-pushrod method, is this right?
The instant you feel even the slightest amount of drag, tighten an additional 1/4 turn, or whatever preload setting you decide to go with?
Is it normal to be able to wiggle the rocker arm end ( The Valve Stem side ) very slightly once the valve is adjusted? It should take some effort to get it too budge, but it should not be so tight you can not move it by hand at all right?

Re: Adjusting Valves, Question.
Is it possible to adjust the valves on an LT1 with the motor running?
I've done this in the past with old school motors. Just fire it up with the valve cover removed, loosen the rocker till it starts clicking, then tighten till the clicking stops and go 1/4 - 1/2 turn more.
Is there something about the LT1 valve train which makes this method a bad idea?
Thomas.

Re: Adjusting Valves, Question.
Other than the fact that it is a pain to get the valve covers off and on fast, No. It takes a little while to tie the wires up if you have OTVC wires and wanna do it with the engine running. Also, you gotta take the serp belt off, to get the alternator off so the valve cover can come off ...
