adj fuel regulater/injecters????????

do adj.fuel pressure regulators help(worth it) on a bolt lt1???? would injecters be helpful also???? all the mods are in my sig. i just heard that alot of lt1's run lean and since mine is modded a little, i wanted to know if bigger injecters and a adj.fuel regulater was nessesary??????? if so are they hard to adjust or do i need a dyno??

Re: adj fuel regulater/injecters????????

A stock LT1 runs pig rich from the factory tune. You don't want to richen it up any more. And you don't "tune" with an adjustable fuel pressure regulator, it won't work. Raise the pressure and it lowers the long term fuel corrections to cut fuel.... no change in closed loop. Go WOT, and since the long terms were cutting fuel in closed loop, it defaults to 0% correction, and it runs even richer than stock. Lower the pressure, and the PCM increases the long terms = no change in closed loop. Go WOT and since the PCM was adding fuel with the long terms, it uses the "add fuel" multipliers, and it continues to run as rich as it was before you lowered the pressure.

And the stock injectors can support up to 400 flywheel HP (albeit at a little higher duty cycle than some people like to run), and you aren't quite there yet.

Wait until you do the heads and cam, then decide if you are going to b over 400 flyweel HP, and size the injectors accordingly. Then have it tuned for the correct size injectors, using the stock fuel pressure.

And your tuner will want you to ditch the Granatelli MAF, since its different than the calibration tables in the PCM. The Granatelli gains HP (if you are lucky) by leaning things out at WOT. Again, not a good way to tune. A mail-order tune would have gained you at least as much HP, guarnateed, and cost about 1/3 of what you paid for the Granatelli.
